Welcome to Copthorne

Copthorne Logo
St. John’s is an Anglican (Church of England) Parish Church with a congregation of around 150. There are two Sunday services, at 9am and at 10.30am, with Coffee & Croissants in between. We have a variety of worship styles and the teaching and ministry come from an open evangelical base.

There is a lively All Age Worship on the first Sunday of the month at 10.30am. Most of our 9am services are based around Holy Communion, the 10.30s are less frequently communion, and more informal in style.

There is also a mid-week Holy Communion on Wednesdays at 10.30am. Morning Prayer is said in church at 9am during the week.

Three cheers for the mayor of Copthorne

You would think a vibrant, enthusiastic and integrated community like Copthorne would have a mayor, wouldn’t you? Well perhaps it’s time it did. But hang on, there are mayors, and there are mayors! There’s the sort of ceremonial ‘Lord Mayor of London’ with procession and banquet style. Perhaps that’s a bit ostentatious. Not really Copthorne, is it? Some one elected by the people would be good - but perhaps not quite like London’s Ken! And wouldn’t it be good if Copthorne was the sort of place where anyone who chose to, could perhaps become mayor?

Recycling at the church
We now have a wheelie bin for ‘recyclables’ outside the vestry door. Please can paper, card, plastic bottles, glass etc be put there rather than in the black bags. Also when black bags are put out for collection, please can they be placed in or on top of the dustbins as the foxes love to scavenge, and leave a real mess behind. Many thanks.
