Copthorne parish is part of the East Grinstead Deanery that stretches from Crawley in the West to East Grinstead in the East. The Deanery Synod (committee in ordinary language) is made up of all the clergy in this area with a few lay members from each parish. The Synod is chaired by one clergy and one lay member and meets at regular intervals during the year. Thurs 13 Sept, 4.30pm: Teachers’ ForumAn opportunity for teachers - Christian, of any faith, or none - to meet and talk with Bishop Lindsay about some of the issues facing teaching today. Refreshments from 4pm. Venue: Hazelwick School,
Fri 14 Sept, 2.30-4.30pm: Mission FairEach parish has created a display of their organisations and ministry. All who help support, and are interested in our church activities, are invited to share ideas over a cup of tea. It will conclude with a simple evening prayer. Sun 16 Sept, 11.30am: Deanery Celebration Eucharist for Walking the WayOne central main service for all the churches in the deanery, incorporating Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion; with Bishop Lindsay presiding.
Sun 16 Sept, 4-6pm: Church Wardens, parish officers, and Readers’ TeaA chance for key lay parish leaders to meet informally with Bishop Lindsay over tea and light refreshments. Sun 16 Sept, 6.30pm: Milestones On The WayA Songs of Praise style of service, open to all, but particularly for those who have been baptised (or perhaps parents of…), who have been married, or been confirmed, and especially those confirmed by Bishop Lindsay, over the past 14 or so years.
