Ryan Norman's Baptism, with mum Fatima Whitbread Children are a gift from God, and at St John's we have many around to give thanks to God for! We have many groups, such as PrayMates, and our various Sunday Clubs for babies and children to belong to.
In celebrating the children God has given us, many want to come to church to give thanks for them, and enquire about Baptism. In the Church of England, baptism may be for children as well as for adults, and this page has some useful information.
At Copthorne, we follow the pattern of having a Thanksgiving service for children, and then follow this with a Baptism.
The first step is to pop in to church and ask us for one of Information leaflets, perhaps at one of our 10.30 services on Sunday. This service is particularly geared to having babies and children at it, and you should find it easy to come to. Our Information Leaflet about Thanksgivings and Baptisms can also be downloaded here.
The leaflet also gives the contact details for Liz Logan (01342 713338), who coordinates our Baptism Enquirer evenings, which are held about once a month (or as frequently as needed). There are often 2 or 3 couples at these.
Thanksging and Baptism dates are discussed at these evenings, along with having an opportunity to discuss what is contained in each service, the promises made in Baptism, chosing God-parents etc.
You can also pick up a copy of the service book that shows what you and God-parents have to say.
