Welcome to Copthorne
St. John’s is an Anglican (Church of England) Parish Church with a congregation of around 150. There are two Sunday services, at 9am and at 10.30am, with Coffee & Croissants in between. We have a variety of worship styles and the teaching and ministry come from an open evangelical base.
There is a lively All Age Worship on the first Sunday of the month at 10.30am. Most of our 9am services are based around Holy Communion, the 10.30s are less frequently communion, and more informal in style.
There is also a mid-week Holy Communion on Wednesdays at 10.30am. Morning Prayer is said in church at 9am during the week.

At our APCM, Barbara Riches and Sue Williams were re-elected as church wardens for the year and John Edwards, David Hornsby, and Monica Polley were each elected to PCC for a 3-year term. Congratulations to all of them. There remain 2 vacancies on the PCC, anyone wishing to stand, please speak to Alastair or the wardens. Gill Narramore is prepared to stand for one place. |

Copthorne Life by Jean Hedges |

It was the usual story of ‘hard-up’ newlyweds that brought us to Copthorne in 1959 – a very different environment to our London suburbia upbringing. Like us, family and friends had never heard of what was then a small village. Commuting daily to London left little time to get to know neighbours and weekends were taken up with the usual domestic chores. No washing machine in those days and it took much longer to wash floor tiles and sweep stairs than running a vacuum over. |

The Worth and District Branch of the Royal British Legion is pleased to announce that the total amount collected during the recent Poppy Appeal period was £16,500. The Branch thanks all those who allowed collecting boxes to be stationed at their premises to receive contribution from generous customers. This is greatly appreciated. May we also thank the Volunteers who collected door to door and at the railway station and supermarkets where travellers and shoppers gave generously. These contributions are very important in that they help to meet the continuing welfare needs of ex-Service women and men.
